Successful arrangement

Protecting the consumer's right to choose alternatives for simplicity, dignity, and economy in funeral arrangements

Founded in 1972 as the Idaho Memorial Association, the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Idaho has more than 500 members. We are a consumer information organization promoting education about funeral arrangements and providing oversight to the funeral industry. We are a non-profit (501(c)(4)) Idaho corporation. We contract with local funeral providers to provide basic services to our members at a reasonable price. We’re democratically controlled and open to anyone, regardless of sex, race, religion, or nationality. Our unpaid board of directors is elected from the membership and administers association affairs. Other members help by telephoning, research, speaking, and telling others about our goals.

Mission Vision & Values

Our Mission

The Funeral Consumers Alliance is an educational nonprofit with nationwide affiliates offering funeral consumer support, information, and advocacy for legislative change.

Our Vision

We advocate for greater access to accurate funeral information. We believe in the rights of consumers to make informed funeral decisions. We envision a funeral landscape that no longer includes funeral poverty.

Comparative Cost of Funeral Services in Idaho, June 2024

This survey is based on the information provided in the General Price List (GPL) of responding mortuaries for minimal services: removal of body, immediate burial or direct cremation, with no services and no viewing. Prices and services are subject to change—please call the mortuary directly.

A history of price ranges past surveys is also available. When looking at past years, remember that alternative containers for cremation and minimal caskets were often included in the basic prices, or are otherwise indicated.

There is a range of casket prices and services that are additional to the base costs listed. Consumers should review and compare GPLs carefully when choosing services. See the publication How to read a mortuary’s general price list. Businesses marked with “@” have their GPL online on their website.
